There's something weirdly lethargic about the New Zealand bowling attack. I didn't watch every ball by any means, but I didn't see a single delivery rate above 134kph. Southee, Wagner and Jamieson mainly bowled in the Nathan Astle speed range. Years ago when bowlers came back from long tours of India there would be grim tales about ravaged and depleted bodies; after dinner anecdotes about despoiled trousers and desperate sprints to the dressing room. That's hardly likely in 2022, so what gives?
It's a very fair question, I didn;t really check the speedguns, so not sure. I just thought they kept waiting for the ball to swing conventionally, and it didn't.
It's not only for Southee, Wagner, Bolt, Jamieson even Taskin and Ebadot couldn't bowl with their full potential in terms of speed. Taskin regularly operates around 145 kph but his speed rarely exceeded 140 in this match.

The ball swung all right - even Wagner bent it - but all at too low a speed to discomfort determined BD batters.
